First of all, I thought I'd post a picture of myself, you know, just in case anyone decides to check out my journal they can see who they're dealing with :). So, here I am. This was taken on Friday 7/18/03, so it's about as recent as they get. I'm doing this on my own this time, without Michelle's help, so let's see just how much I've learned.
So, anyway, I'm just hanging around the house today, doing some much needed cleaning since I'm having some people over on Wednesday for my first meeting of my newly formed Book Club Discussion Group, and I don't want them to think I live in squalor. We're discussing "The Dogs of Babel" by Carolyn Parkhurst. It will be interesting to hear what everyone else thought of it. Parts of it I loved, parts of it disturbed me greatly. But it was very well written and I would highly recommend it.
Last weekend I read "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd, which I really, really loved. It's a sweet book, one that will go on my list of all time favorites, although not anywhere in the same league as "The Poisonwood Bible" , "Rebecca" and "The Lovely Bones", which are my top three favorite books of all time.
So, GH these days. Man, it is just so wrong what they've done to Zander. It pains me to watch it. And it's made all the worse by the fact that his pain is a direct result of the sexy, smoldering Nikolas coming back. I love both of them, so it makes it doubly sad what they're doing to Zander. In defense of Nikolas, at least he's trying to be noble and stepping aside. Added to this whole mess is the fact that I just don't really care for NuEmily. I would find this story a lot more interesting if Amber were still playing the part. As serrico said, Chad has been promised this great story line with Lane Davies and all that father/son angst stuff, but where is it???? Why haven't se seen it, and frankly, I'm kinda pissed about it.
And then there's Sonny. Sonny, Sonny, Sonny. I can't believe they had him push Ric down the stairs, and I shudder to think how many more times he thinks he has to do it to kill him. I mean, I know Sonny's a mobster and all that, but I'm not sure this is the solution to his problems with Ric. I'm no fan of Ric, though I do think Rick Hearst is doing a great job in the part. Anyway, I'm wondering what's going to happen that Sonny doesn't actually kill Ric. Maybe he'll have an attack of conscience.
And Courtney is pregnant, I hear. Pass the bucket, I believe I might be ill over that one. I've loved seeing Jason and Liz on screen together, even if they were screaming at each other. I just hope the rumors are true that they're going to reach some sort of "friendship" status again in the near future. I'd love it to be more, but I gave up on THAT dream a long time ago.
Then there's Alcazar. I didn't care for Luis Alcazar at all, but I'm really liking Lorenzo :). He's one of those deliciously evil, yet charming, villains. Loved him with Carly yesterday. I have a feeling he's going to fall for Carly, if he hasn't already. Clearly, he admires her and finds her attractive. We'll see.
Okay, enough ramblings for one afternoon. I'm off to do my workout, some more cleaning (I need to take advantage of this energy I have today), and then see if I can round anyone up to go for a second viewing of POTC!!! Gotta get my Johnny fix!!
